Music has the power to take over one’s senses and moods. Your mind is divided into many parts; consciousness, perception, thinking, judgment, and memory. With this incredible complexity of the brain, a lot of outside infiltrations can affect the brain. To create a peaceful equilibrium, one must put consistent positive energy within themselves.
How does this relate to music? In a variety of ways, such as, when a person is going through a serious issue within their lives and it’s affecting their senses and moods, a person might turn to music for an outlet. But what if the musical selections being chosen are toxic to your brain? Of course, one might say, “It doesn’t affect me, it’s just a song,” Music affects many different parts of the brain. Our reasoning, emotional and appreciation is affected. Yes, one has the ability to not internalize the music that one is listening to but what about when it subliminally infiltrates the brain? Music can change your natural mindset about certain issues and problems one faces throughout the day. For example, a woman could have broken up with her significant other and her natural feelings can be regret, rejection and coldness. The music selections she chooses to fill her head with can affect her healing process. If she listens to artists that talk about violent resolutions or resolutions where you lose your inner peace versus songs that uplift her during a time of rejection and defeat, this can ultimately push back the healing process that is desired. A lot of times routine and patterns create a path for a lifestyle. If a person routinely listens to certain type of music, this can play a huge role in their lifestyle. It’s very essential to have positive infiltrations at all times if one wants a peaceful positive lifestyle. Utilizing music as an aid instead of a weapon is where a person has the option. This is where the beautiful gift of option and the right of reasoning and doing what one sees fit for one’s own life comes into play. Musical infiltrations happen all the time, and in order to keep what plays a role in your everyday mindset, choose wisely what you put into your mind. Whatever you put in, that’s what comes back out to you. The musical selections shouldn’t be based on genres but on the actual musical selections and songs alone. Remember to always do what makes you happy, but happiness relies on inner joy and the positive energy one creates for one’s self.

In an industry that is dominated by men, a young woman by the name of DJ DeLysiosa has proven that she can stand along with the elites in the DJ industry. “I started DJ’ing at my church events and block parties people would have and also at the teen and young adult events.” After being able to DJ at church events, DJ DeLysiosa started making mix tapes and CDs for her parents, their friends, as well as her friends just to display her skills. Besides being a DJ I enjoy writing. I often write music or brainstorm ideas for future events, or future opportunities to make my life more meaningful, I started my own mentoring group, because I feel that it is my duty as a human being to help others, I am looking to work with Alicia Keys AIDS awareness campaign and other avenues that contributes to helping my community and world. But before I consider myself to be a radio personality and journalist, I am a daughter, sister, niece and friend. As I finished at Rutgers University; I choose to do whatever makes me happy. It is imperative that I smile each and every day no matter what the obstacle. ArchivesCategories |
